Replacing Tektro Brake Pads — Shred & Quad

The Shred and Quad use Tektro Dorado hydraulic disc brakes. Brake pads are a wear item and need replacement when the pad material is less than 1mm thick. This video shows you how to replace them.

When to Replace

• Squealing or grinding noise when braking
• Reduced stopping power
• Brake lever pulls closer to the handlebar than usual
• Visual inspection shows pad material less than 1mm thick

What You'll Need

• Replacement Tektro brake pads
• Allen key set (included in your tool kit)
• Clean rag and isopropyl alcohol

Pro Tips

After installing new pads, you'll need to bed them in. Find a safe area and perform 10-15 moderate stops from medium speed. This transfers pad material to the rotor and ensures consistent braking performance.
