A multimeter is the single best tool for diagnosing battery issues. You can buy one for $15–20 at any hardware store (Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Amazon). Here's how to use it.
| Voltage | Status | Action |
|---|---|---|
| 52–54.6V | Fully charged, healthy | No action needed |
| 48–52V | Partially charged, healthy | Normal — charge when convenient |
| 42–48V | Low charge | Charge soon |
| 38–42V | Very low — possible cell damage | Charge immediately, retest after full charge |
| Below 38V | Battery cells are dead | Battery replacement needed |
| 0V | Internal fuse blown or BMS failure | Contact support |
For the most accurate diagnosis, test the battery twice:
A healthy battery that drops from 54V to 48V after a 15-minute hill ride is normal. A battery that drops from 54V to 40V after the same ride needs replacement.
